According to Israeli media outlet Haaretz, Avri Steiner, a board member of the Jewish National Fund’s affiliate Himnuta, proposed using uninhabited Greek islands as safe havens for Israelis during war or emergency situations. Steiner notes that there are around 40 habitable, unpopulated islands in Greece where necessary infrastructure could be built.
