The light outside faded further, and the cave darkened around them.
Jessie worked carefully, doing what he could, not perfectly—but enough.
Enough to make it usable.
Enough to survive.
Later, he sat beside Sarah again.
He held out a small piece of food.
“Here,” he said.
She hesitated.
