And yet, people in this world still loved. They sang. They told jokes that have survived in manuscripts for seven hundred years. They danced at weddings. In the middle of all that darkness, they made space for light, because that is what humans do. So tonight, when you climb into your clean bed, maybe whisper a small thanks to the people who came before us. They couldn't imagine us. But here we are. Listening. Goodnight.
