They lifted the baby sea otter and placed it inside a container. Then they recorded its cries, and for almost two hours, they drifted through the fog, blasting the baby’s calls across the bay. At last, a female otter appeared and followed the sound. They lowered the pup back into the water, and its mother swam straight toward it. She checked its fur before carrying her baby away.
