The Text That Ruined Dinner
Emily had just finished cooking dinner.
Pasta. Garlic bread. Candles on the table.
She wanted tonight to be perfect.
Michael walked in, smiled, and said,
“Wow… this looks amazing.”
For once, everything felt… calm.
Then the doorbell rang.
It was Linda.
Her mother-in-law.
Unannounced.
Again.
Linda walked in, looked around, and said,
“Oh… pasta? That’s… simple.”
Emily forced a smile.
“Yeah, I thought we’d keep it light.”
Linda laughed softly.
