Traditional Music of Mexico Mexican music is very diverse and has many styles. One of the most famous is Mariachi. Mariachi music started in the western part of Mexico, especially in the state of Jalisco. It is usually played by a group of musicians wearing traditional outfits called charro suits. Mariachi bands use instruments like violins, trumpets, guitars, vihuela, and guitarrón. The songs are often about love, patriotism, and Mexican life. A very famous song is “Cielito Lindo.” Another
