Body Fossils
These are real parts of an animal like bones or teeth.
Leaf Imprints
A plant leaf leaves a press mark in the mud that gets hard
Shell Fossils
The hard shell of a sea animal left its shape in a rock.
Amber:
Amber is yellow tree sap. Small bugs got stuck in it long ago. The sap turned hard like glass.
Ice fossils:
Ice can trap animals. Large hairy elephants called mammoths are found in cold ice. This keeps them safe.
