“We can’t stay like this,” Jessie said quietly.
“Not for long.”
Sarah didn’t answer.
But her eyes stayed open now.
More aware than before.
Outside, the bush had gone silent again.
Like it was waiting.
Jessie looked toward the cave entrance.
Then back at Sarah.
They had made it through this.
But nothing about it felt safe.
