When I was 14, I thought my dad was just going to the store. My parents had just divorced, and both of them were deep into drugs. I was old enough to understand what was going on, and honestly, I was angry—at everything. That night, I was staying at my dad’s place. It was also my school’s prom night, and even though I wasn’t going, a lot of my friends were. I remember feeling left out… but that feeling wouldn’t last long.
