Sister Irene uses the sacred relic that contains the Blood of Christ. While Valak is still holding her underwater, she takes some of the blood into her mouth but continues to be forced down. She stays underwater as Valak keeps trying to stop her from rising. Irene then slowly raises her hand, showing the relic above the water. Valak takes it and looks at it closely, confused because it does not look normal or complete. Valak pulls Irene back up to the surface while still holding her and watching
