Sarah stumbled, nearly falling, but Jessie yanked her forward.
“Keep going!” he yelled.
They ran until their legs burned. Until the explosions faded. Until the forest swallowed the noise and left only silence behind.
Finally, Jessie stopped.
Both of them gasped for breath, bending over, hands on their knees.
