Sarah tried her own, hands shaking at first, but Jessie guided her.
“Not too tight,” he said. “You want it to bend, not snap.”
She nodded, focusing hard.
By the time the sun began to dip, they had two rough bows and a handful of uneven arrows. Sarah held hers tightly.
“I never thought this would be real,” she said quietly.
Jessie looked at her.
“Neither did I.”
They didn’t notice the footprints at first.
