I told myself it was a prank, but then I heard a soft creak from the hallway. My heart started pounding. I grabbed my blanket and peeked over the edge of the bed. Shadows moved across the walls, though nothing should have been there. Another message appeared: “Why are you hiding?” The air grew cold, my breath visible. I could hear whispering now, right behind me, soft b
