The Afghan people came to Australia in between the 1860s and the 1920s. They came to Australia as cameleers. Which provided them a job opportunity and a marketing opportunity to start business. When they first arrived there were only about 2000 to 3000 people that had come from Afghanistan. During their first settlement, the majority of the Afghans had gone to a town called Marrie in South Australia, while some of the others decided to go to Melbourne.
