Pāhonoa te oro

He wakes up face down on a beach with the silence of the island ringing in his ears and the realization that he is the only survivor of a crash that should have killed him but the relief of being alive is quickly replaced by a cold dread because the shore is littered with FedEx packages and the body of one of his pilots which he buries with a heavy heart before turning his attention to the horizon hoping for a ship or a plane that will never come while he scavenges the boxes for anything useful
