After a while, Sarah noticed him slowing down near a cluster of thin trees.
“What are you doing?” she asked.
Jessie crouched, picking up a long, straight branch. He tested its weight, bending it slightly. “We need something to protect ourselves,” he said. “We can’t just keep walking around like this.”
Sarah watched as he searched for another branch—this one more flexible.
“A bow?” she asked.
