It came to a brutal end 300 years later with the murder of Nicholas II by the Bolsheviks. Many of the Romanov rulers, like Peter and Catherine the Great, were known for the reforms they introduced in Russia. Centuries before Boris Yeltsin introduced a moratorium on executions, a Romanov ruler banned the death penalty outright. Other Romanovs introduced changes, which in some ways
