Back in middle school, my friends and I became obsessed with hiding stuff… but not from teachers — from each other. It started with one kid bringing a lockbox to school. Nothing special, just a cheap metal box with a tiny key. But he treated it like it held government secrets. Wouldn’t let anyone near it. So naturally, we all wanted one. Within a week, half our group had some kind of “vault.” Locked pencil cases, backpacks with little luggage locks, even one guy who hid things inside a hollow
