Eradell rushed to finish her task before the guards arrived. Outside, she heard the muffled sounds of rattling from horse-drawn wagons coming to a stop. Quickly, she read over the list again, tracing the uneven lines of Dalden’s handwriting. It had grown worse over time, falling into mere chicken scratch with his current condition. In the two years Eradell had worked as his assistant, she’d learned to make sense of it. Shelves stretched around her, filled with books of all sizes, scrolls and loo
