I didn't think twice when my daughter waved to me from the garden. She looked so peaceful playing in the tall grass under the moonlight. I smiled and waved back, leaning against the cold kitchen counter. Then my phone buzzed in my pocket with a text from my wife. "The sleepover is going great, we just got to her friend's house." I looked back outside, and the girl in the garden stopped waving.
