But her body didn’t follow.
At an unnatural angle, her neck twisted, as though something within it had broken.
Daniel froze.
The train lights flickered once. Then twice.
Afterward, the lights shut off completely. Darkness swallowed the carriage whole. For a few seconds, there was nothing but the sound of the train moving through the tunnel. Then—
A voice, right beside him.
“You weren’t supposed to get on this one.”
The lights snapped back on.
Daniel jerked his head to the side.
