In 1814, the emperor Napoleon Bonaparte was defeated and sent into exile on a tiny island called Elba. Most of Europe believed his rule was finally over. But less than a year later… Napoleon escaped. He sailed back to France with only a few hundred loyal soldiers. When troops were sent to arrest him, something shocking happened. Instead of fighting him… they joined him. Napoleon marched back into power and ruled again for 100 days. But his final defeat came at the legendary Battle of Waterloo.
