Rauch describes a quiet counter-movement: listeners deliberately choosing analogue, physical, and so-called inefficient media — zines, print, cassettes, vinyl — as a form of resistance against the speed, surveillance, and sameness of digital platforms. The contrast is sharp. Fast media offers infinite scroll, skippable tracks, algorithmic mood feeds, and passive atomised listening where you are the data being extracted. Slow
