Number 4, Canned salmon. Canned salmon is moving into a more fragile period because the 2026 Alaska forecast is much smaller than the 2025 harvest. The Alaska Department of Fish and Game reported that the 2025 all species commercial salmon harvest totaled about 197.4 million fish. That included 120 million pink salmon, 52.7 million sockeye, 21.7 million chum, 2.7 million coho, and 201,000 Chinook. For 2026, the forecast is about 125.5 million fish, including 56 million pink salmon, 49.7 million
