A hand grabbed hers. “I’ve got you!” Jessie shouted, pulling her up. Another explosion echoed somewhere behind them. “Run!” They didn’t think. They didn’t look back. Branches whipped at their faces as they ran blindly into the forest. The sounds of destruction followed them—crashing trees, distant shouting, the roar of the plane circling above.
