Gemination is contrastive, and the language chains case, tense and honorific suffixes onto roots, producing long word forms that must be segmented for natural rhythm. Standard Kannada also differs from strongly regional spoken varieties, so a natural voice targets the standard used in news and education. Demand comes from Karnataka's Sandalwood film industry, Bengaluru's media and technology sector, state government and education services, and Kannada news and devotional channels.
