He was still holding her.
Too calmly. Too naturally.
And then…
his gaze shifted.
At first, it passed right over me.
Then it froze.
He saw me.
I was standing at the entrance.
Not moving.
And in that second… his arms loosened.
She noticed it first.
She pulled away and looked at him.
But he was already staring only at me.
He said something to her — quietly.
I couldn’t hear the words, only the movement of his lips.
Then he took a step toward me.
But I didn’t wait.
I turned around.
Not because
