Jessie stood nearby, scanning the trees.
He hadn’t sat down once.
“Jessie…” Sarah’s voice cracked. “We should go back.”
He froze.

“No.” “But what if—”
“No,” he said again, firmer this time. “You saw what happened.”
Sarah looked down at the ground, her chest tightening.
